Uprising

Scotland 2037

The South of the United Kingdom is a starving graveyard of old technology and failed promises.

The North is a thriving fortress of community, trade, and growth.

The coronavirus didn’t submit - it evolved. Through wave after wave, it dismantled the world as we knew it. While the Southern government collapsed - clinging to useless technology, currency, and rotting cities - Scotland did the unthinkable. They built the GerBer Wall, 40ft of stone from Gretna to Berwick, welded the gates, and returned to the strength of a network of Clans and carefully constructed protocols.

In this new world order, survival is about rituals and rules. Value is found in hard work, not in money. Decisions are made by committee, and safety is maintained through a series of strict protocols.

Robin MacGregor, a guardian of the Border, believes that order in the chaos is the only thing that will keep her family alive. Since the 6th Wave took her mother, she has lived by the rules, convinced that if she follows the protocol, the world can’t take anything more from her. But when her fourteen-year-old brother, Fergus, is called early to a training camp in the mountains of Aviemore, Robin’s rigid world begins to fracture.

As a chaperone to her brother’s talent, Robin returns to a realm of holiday resorts turned fortresses where teenagers are sharpened into weapons. There, amidst the shadow of the Cairngorms, and a connection she never saw coming, she discovers a terrifying truth: there is more to life than just surviving.

But their new peace is a lie. A desperate, coordinated force of Raiders is closing in, hungry to steal the life the Clans have built. They think the North is a prize to be taken. They don't realise that Robin MacGregor has finally found a future worth fighting for - and she won't give it up without a war.

The lines have been drawn. Their carefully constructed peace will be broken.

This will be their Uprising.

The Uprising playlist

The playlist for The Uprising is a mix of modern and retro vibes spanning from the seventies to the naughties. It was a conscious choice. In their world, the only music they have access to is music on cassette or CD, a format that can be played on a portable player. No cloud music subscriptions survived. It is only what has been salvaged and saved by the survivors. There are more modern tracks in there too, songs that helped me get into the mindset, time, and place for the flashbacks as the world descended into chaos.
