Sara grew up in Renfrew but always felt her home was somewhere further north. In 2022, she and her husband moved from Glasgow to the highlands of Scotland, to a money pit just outside Inverness on the Moray coast, which has turned out to be exactly right, if considerably more expensive than expected.

She started writing in 2013, though her love of reading and stories came long before that. English and history were always the assignments she looked forward to, and looking back, she feels she missed out by never being taught Scotland's own history at school. She is a firm believer that Scottish history should return to Scottish classrooms.

It was through educating herself on some of Scotland’s darkest histories that the idea for her debut novel, The Massacre’s Daughter, began to form.

She enjoys reading gothic horror, historical fiction and fantasy, romance, and crime thrillers, and is never happier than when researching and plotting for her writing projects. Her favourite way to spend a weekend is in a hidey hole with a laptop, a notepad, and a carefully curated playlist.
